Most of you who follow the antics of the second most famous comedy trio, Bob, Tom and Danny know that there is a serious side to us when it comes to that debilitating disease, Parkinson's.  Tommy lives it every day of his life and Dan and I can't begin to fathom what he goes through on a constant basis.  His attitude is high and he does a great job keeping his symptoms in check.

I hate to see this happen, but it does...

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we make the following announcement today, Feb 3, 2010.  As of tomorrow, SlotCarAddicts forum will be closing its doors forever.   It's simply gotten a little expensive and time consuming to maintain happily. We admit we had a pretty good run though not as busy as we had hoped. We thought a friendlier group of Slot car enthusiasts was in order, and for the longest time it really worked for us with nearly 2,000 members. We found some of THE nicest slot car addicts out there, and a real cream-of-the crop when it came to vendors too. The Archer raceway gang is and will always be a favorite of ours, same goes for NJ Nostalgia Hobby, and Slot Car News.  If you want a good group of racers in PA, NJ,and NY, then find the guys at NJ Slot 1/32 and NJ Nostalgia.. I'll forever be in there collective debt when it came to this hobby.

This is expected to sell out quickly, my advice is to place your order NOW.

AFXtras had a great run on their initial 5-car AFX AP Corvette reproduction bodies. So much so that they've come out with release 2 of the same. They come in red/white, white/green, blue/white, white/orange, and metalflake green/white. These bodies are limited to 400 of each color. Bad-L Hobby is taking preorders for a set of all 5 colors for $49.95.  These are expected to be available mid-February.

In and amongst another smattering of expected NASCAR oriented Track Sets is this off-road set. Unfortunately, "what's new" from Life-Like this year so appears like more of the same. I'd prefer to see new cars, but the emphasis appears to be on new sets at least for now.

At Slugger's show Tom Stumph mentioned a a few things worth repeating:

The new AFXTras Corvette A/Ps are nearly gone.  He had the few sets on hand that remained, as well as an example of the forthcoming "Gold" version.

He also recently purchased all RRR remaining stock of the '37 Ford Rodster, and they are going fast.  As you may recall, this was voted "Best Slot Car" a few years back.  The body only versions can be purchased for only $10, a far cry from the original price.  These feature opening hood, removable hard top, a soft cover, driver, chrome wheel set, and in some cases the trailer depending on the color.  I also took advantage of Tom's bagged drivers - a set of 10 for only $5, can't beat that!!
