Three more great looking Aurora TJets. The pick of them the all black Cougar. I've near bottomed out on Aurora TJet purchases as I  now have pretty much  what I've been after.  Not sure I've actually completed a collection yet so will need to thoroughly research exactly what I've got against what was/is available.

Such is life.

Scalextric 007 cars

Scalextric Quantum of Solace cars.Scalextric 007 cars.

The never ending popularity of the James Bond 007 movies sees this Scalextric set from the movie Quantum of Solace.

Depicted are the stunning Aston Martin DBS V12 and the sleek Alfa Romeo 159.

The Micro Scalextric cars really do rock and exhibit very "clean" performances on the track. Quiet, smooth response with fat boots and bums generally mean these cars don't flip so much. Not as zippy off the mark as most other HO cars, these are quite the opposite to race intended slotties and kinda' follow on the tradition of their laid back British born 1/32 scale cousins we're all so familiar with.

I love these Micro cars and have quite a few now.

This is pretty much the culmination of 4 weeks hard searching and buying. Some highly desirable cars in this lot with a few not-so's, but nonetheless welcome additions.

Hard to pick the best of them but the Tomy AFX SHOWA Shell Marlboro Honda F1 #1 is probably the rarest of them, closely followed by the Tomy AFX Camel ELF DeLonghi Honda F1 #12.

A few Scalextric cars too which I've re-discovered again lately including two from the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace.

Another nice haul.

This car kick-started my collecting habit

Life Like Ford Thunderbird Stock Car #91.This car kick-started my collecting habit.

About 4 years ago, a buddy from work found this car in a box of mixed cars and track. He brought it in for me to try and get the track working for his son.

It was a Tomy track but was quite rusty so I suggested he get a new small track from the toy store with 2 new cars for about $50. He wisely took up the suggestion and gave me this car.

It kinda hung around for a while as we were renovating our house and priorities meant other things had to happen before any fun did. That's not to say I wasn't itching, because as the reno's neared completion, winter was setting in and I needed a fresh distraction all over again.

Spreading my wings

Tomy AFX BMW M3 Feather Magna bodies.Spreading my wings.

As a collector, I need to spread my wings a little so I can find cars from other makers. Despite what may appear as an AFX collection, I actually own more Tomy AFX cars than any other. I do find quite a lot of rare Tomy cars along the way and being newer models than AFX, they are often in superb condition.

Not sure how well known these cars are on these pages, but I haven't seen any published other than mine so some of you guys may not know these exist. These are the super lightweight lexan Tomy AFX BMW M3 Feather Magna bodies and are very hard to find. I have 4 different types in the collection and I'm researching to see if I'm done but I'm not totally convinced I am yet. I got these as just bare shells and I've had to separately purchase the lexan clips so a Tomy chassis can be fitted.

Not so rare, but a nice catch anyway

Aurora AFX Plymouth Road Runner Red, Blue, Red Nose. Not so rare, but a nice catch anyway.

Not every car has to be a rarity. I've seen this Aurora AFX Plymouth Road Runner #43 Red, Blue with Blue Nose come and go at auction a few times now but haven't been really impressed with the quality... until this one came along.

Sporting a very clean and barely run chassis, the undercarriage appears to have had only track testing done to it. Suits me just fine.

Welcome to the collection.

It's Time to Celebrate. 1000 cars and counting

1000 ho slot cars and counting. It's Time to Celebrate. 1000 cars and counting.

I figured this day would eventually come by Xmas 2010, but my frantic purchasing of late has meant my collection has swelled to over 1000 cars.

A recent trip to Kmart to print off a USB stick full of HO slot car prints for my archives meant I was printing 949 prints. I hadn't taken a lot of notice as I was guessing I had about 750 cars. The last time I checked seriously, I had hit the 500 mark and I was really surprised by the 949 photos. Take away the 10 or so duplicated photos and add to this the cars I inadvertently missed to take photos of and I was wondering if I'd already hit the 1000 mark.

Wow !!

In any case, I have about 15 cars waiting to get to me very shortly, and definitely another 40 or so cars I'm yet to photograph already in the collection so I'm figuring I've gone over 1000 and into uncharted territory now.

Let's hear of your collection guys.

Another Rare Bird

Aurora AFX Polifac BMW #8.I love the Pixies and Fairies who leave a reminder in my PO Box. I can't pick anything up at 6.30am when I check the box on my way to work as opening hours are 8.30am. But sometimes at 6.30am, a box small enough to fit the smallish PO Box will be waiting there for me.

Imagine my joy after gingerly opening my latest pack to reveal this very rare AFX Polifac BMW F1 car. This was acquired locally and it got here in 2 days but man, did I want to get my hands on this! Don't let the tatty decals fool you either because underneath is an intact car. Nothing missing thank God.

A fresh set of decals is in the pipeline to restore this to original.

... and they just keep coming

Aurora AFX Ford Escort Rallye Castrol #3 White, Blue, Yellow, Red.... and they just keep coming.

Keeping up with myself is sometimes harder than keeping up with The Jones'. It's been a whirlwind 3 weeks as I've already said, and amongst the acquisitions is this fantastic looking AFX Ford Escort #3.

Harder to find than a talking dog, this car came through Ray and I'm delighted to have this rare bird in the collection.

Muchas Gracias Ray.

The Tip of the Iceberg

AFX Dodge Rebel Charger #11.The Tip of the Iceberg.

What an incredible 3 weeks collecting I've had folks. This AFX Dodge Rebel Charger #11 is amongst the most expensive cars I now own. It isn't the most expensive, but it's up there. I was prepared to fight for it at auction and surprisingly it only attracted 3 bids. It came bundled with an AFX Matador cab and an AFX Chevy Fire Chief Car both in pretty good shape.

The exceptional thing here is the fact this car came up for sale at all. It's the first time I've ever seen it in my searches and I was the hawk of hawks on this auction.

Stay tooned folks, because what you see here is just The Tip of the Iceberg.
