2009 Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Last Sunday was the Annual Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 endurance race at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

The telecast starts at 7:30am with race start at 10:30am and finishes 1000klms later at 5:15pm. It is the only day of the year where I totally will not do a damn thing around the house although with new baby on board this year, I had to pull my weight before race start.

Even so, the Mrs was having fits about it so decided to take baby up to Sydney for lunch with friends to get outta' my hair.

It's a very long day and sitting glued to the box can drive you insane despite all the unfolding action and twisty-turns so I decided to get some  "housekeeping" done while watching The Great Race... HO-usekeeping that is.

I have an ever increasing number of chassis' which need repairing so I got busy with these first. I managed to get 8 working which was a fair effort. Then I got stuck into the dud and non-working chassis'. Instead of fiddling with them, I dismantled all of them and ripped out unusable tyres, burnt and worn brushes, rusted shoe springs, cracked hubs, buckled pick-up shoes and stripped crown and pinion gears. Then I got down to sorting all the spares into compartments for easy access down the track.

I've sort of got organised chaos now but I feel much more at ease with this lot and I can source spares at will from now on. I had so much going on before in every corner it was difficult for me to find things when I REALLY needed them.

And next year I'll do it all over again.
