Drill Blank Axles and Crown Gears

Okay, I have put on some drill blank axles to take up the slop in the rear end of the t-jet. I use lock-tite on the crown gear, but I have had one car to let loose. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there any new tips to keep the crown gear tight?

Axles & Cluster Gear Shafts Too!

Dan, I know a lot of guys who have had the same thing happen. There is nothing worse than bringing an aspiring rebuilt car to a race and spinning a crown gear or pinion. There are a few homegrown remedies but in my mind only a few good answers.

  • You might try using a new "stock" crown gear right out of a blister pack
  • You could buy an after market crown gear from RT or other source
  • You can purchase axle blanks and cluster shafts in bigger diameters

I buy oversized axles and cluster gear shafts for Zoom'n Motorsports. They come in .0635, .064, and .0645.

I hate not finishing a race beause of mechanical failure. I'm sure you will get other opinions, but that is my best advise.

Good Luck! Serge
