Greetings from Radiator Springs!
Back when I posted pix of my custom Disney/Pixar CARS haulers, folks asked if I'd post a pic of my whole slot CARS collection. Here it is!
In the back row, from left to right, we have World Grand Prix Lightning McQueen and Francesco Bernoulli from CARS 2, the Dinoco Hauler, Mack w/trailer, and Tokyo Mater and Lightning Dragon McQueen from the "Tokyo Mater" episode of Mater's Tall Tales.
In the front, we have Lightning McQueen in his original CARS livery, Doc Hudson, Chick Hicks, the King, and Ramone.
WGP McQueen and Francesco are from the Mattel set that hit the store shelves a few months ago, just in time for Christmas. Dragon McQueen and Tokyo Mater are from the Target-exclusive Mattel set that was briefly availabloe before Christmas 2010. And the original Lightining McQueen and Doc Hudson are from the Mattel Neon Nights set, circa 2007 or so. All sit on Mattel/Tyco chassis, with Francesco using the narrow version.
The rest are customs made from plastic Disney Store "figurine" bodies, and the haulers are made from plastic Mattel CARS Mini-Adventure sets. Chassis are many and varied, basically whatever would fit and look right. The haulers use AW and AFX semi truck chassis and "tank" units. Chick Hicks sits on a Tomy G-Plus chassis (with yellow AFX wheels). The King and Ramone use AW 4-gear chassis. A tip of the controller here to SuperjetRob, who posted the great info on how to alter the AW chassis to work with regular AFX rear wheels, wihtout which Ramone would not have been possible (or at least would have looked like "Pro Street Ramone" with the stock 4-gear wheels). I used a set of MEV BBS-style wheels with gold photoetched centers for Ramone, with the rear centers spaced out towards the rim; a close enough scale approximation of the gold wire wheels he wore in the movie.
Hope you enjoy these pix -- and I haven't forgotten that I still need to post some how-to pix of my hauler conversions!

Cool!
Posted by Stig McQueen on Fri, 2012-01-20 21:21That'spretty cool! We have the Mattel playsets, and made use of two of them in our annual "undertree world." If I ever get the video together, I'll post it.
As an aside, the "spark plug" lights atop Flo's V8 Cafe flash in the correct firing pattern of a Ford flathead V8; one of those little Pixar details that goes largely unnoticed but makes the movies so good. The kicker is, the lights on the playset also flash in the same pattern!
