Dan; I know that you were a wonderful son for your dad and he was confident of your love because of your compassionate gifts. My dad died during my final exams in nursing school. I gave him CPR for twenty minutes until the paramedics came but knew he was dead so I choose not to alarm my mother and gave her a picture of my dedication to him as well. My father was our Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. I have spent the day in Hillsborough with my Royal Ranger Senior Commander Dennis Crumpler whose son was killed Monday in Northern Afganistan. Josiah was in the 82nd Airborne 4th Brigade Special Forces and his unit was ambushed by the Taliban and he was killed by a grenade. Josiah was 27 years old, and one of the finest and Godliest men I have ever known and held in high regard by his fellow soldiers. God Bless! TonyCrymgbbrown

I still have my mother, as well both of my wonderful in-laws, and trust me they are.  Thank you for the reinforcement, I always loved to share my hobbies with my Dad, because it represented a large chunk of my time.  I'm sure it was hard to continue the CPR knowing it could not likely revive your Dad, It was hard seeing my dad decline so fast, knowing I could do nothing either.  I feel for you and your friend Tony.  I have had a number of friends and family join the ranks of the military.  As you probably know Canada has long been sought after by the U.N. for our Peace keeping abilities.  Not to say the U.S. is not capable of course.  I have a Highschool friend who has been to Kandahar Afghanistan too often to count, but his expertise in Generators and power grids is mucho important. It seems I hear of casualties every other day, and I wonder why these people can't see that we are trying to help.  It is a sad world when people in positions of leadership have the power to maintain peace, but choose to waste the lives of their followers.  I am not Muslim as you know, but I have studied it enough to know the people doing these acts are failing to understand their own religion.  I offer my condolences and prayers to you and yours in this sad time.  Another young life taken too soon and in such a violent way is had to acceopt.  At least he was strong in his convictions and has a place waiting for him.  As you like to say Tony, God Bless.

Working on that Beemer, having a bit of trouble matching the paint, it's a bit orangy.  Firebird is coming along nicely as is the vette.  I have not tackled the candies yet, and the marlboro is awaiting a slightly larger replacement wing...

Dan. Your efforts are much appreciated. Would be great to see some articles at the end of all this as some of the custom work would be close to if not original pieces of work.

My plan is to post a collective pic of all the repairs/modifications I plan for those bodies.  I've already had thoughts dancing in my head. I also just got a lot of 24 bodies from an ebay auction I won a couple months ago, I had sent it to a relative in Arizona because it was close by, but they cancelled their return trip for awhile so only now did they arrive, so I have been inundated with bodies.  I now have to start saving up for running chassis's lol.here's a pic of everything I have up til now there are a number missing for cleaning/stripping purposes, but a good collection none the less.  I'm not sure what is valuable, as I don't have any guides, but I'm just about finished, If I can locate the fire truck, Dodge Magnum stock car, a Monster truck or two and a few more polices cars (some other variations and makes, and the other couple of Porsche 917's they have grown on me Laughing.  I've given up owning the Rebel Charger for now....

It's funny how slot cars start out as an innocent little hobby. "Cars are only 20 bucks, what harm can that do?" I figure chassis for all your bodies will run you about 2 g's. Hey don't get me wrong Dan, I'm with you. I wish I had your ambition. Great collection, I can't wait to see your posts.

Best of Luck! Serge

PS the 917's on a big track are awesome.

I did not express sympathy earlier about the tribute to your Dad. It is hard to look back on such things. My Dad was a surviving Hot Rodder who died in a freak car wreck at 73 years old. It doesn't make it any easier. Sorry your son will never meet his grand-père.

Au Contraire mon Frere!  But he did meet his Grandfater, and he knew him for more than two years. My son has great memories of Grandpa, and even insisted we buy him a brithday cake the other day too.  We have many many pictures, and video of the two of them.  As well, before my Dad died, I sat down with him to "interview" him, asking him to re-tell some stories I grew up hearing, as well as anything he might want to say to any of his grandchildren.  Unfortunately he passed away only 2 months before we found we were expecting a daughter.  She will know of him, and already has some toys he handcrafted before she was even conceived.  For this I am extremely grateful as my son has numerous reminders of Grandpa as she will too (and any others).  Sorry to hear of your fathers unexpected passing, I can only imagine how it feels.  My father went slowly.
