Hello fellow slot fans

Hi All,

I'll have been into slot cars for 3 years come this December.  I had no idea that slot cars still existed until I wandered into my LHS 3 years ago.  I didn't really have many slot cars as a kid, although my brother who is 12 years my senior had a few Aurora AFX sets that he never let me near, lol.  So three years ago I wander into a hobby shop to poke around, as I never frequented them before.  I go to the back of the store and my jaw dropped when I saw the 1/32 cars available.  I had no idea that slot cars were still in existence, let alone in that scale.  From that point on I dove right into both scales.

In those 3 years I've built a 4 lane Scaley 1/32 track measuring 16x6, and I'm on my second HO track.  My first HO track was a TOMY 4 lane layout measuring 12x3.  That has since been replaced by a 12x4 MaxTrax.  Both tracks are wired positive polarity with directional reversing switches.

I refer to myself as primarily a 1/32 racer, although I think I do so mainly because I don't race HO very well...not that my 1/32 skills are much better!  As these 3 years have passed, I've grown to enjoy and appreciate HO scale racing more and more.  The local club I race with (CRL in the MD/DC/VA area) is a magnet racing club, racing hard body Super Stock configured cars with slip on silicone tires in lieu of silicone sponge tires.  If it were up to me, we'd be racing T-Jets, Non-Magnatraction and Magnatraction cars all day long.  I just love those breed of cars.  I haven't raced any of the Riggens brass cars, but those look appealing as well.

Well, that's enough rambling for now.  I'm going to start exploring the site...

Thanks!

Hey, Domer!

Welcome to to the site. Lots of great folks and information here.

Do you run a particular brand in the magnet classes? Or just mix 'em up?

Post some pictures of your layouts when you have the chance.

Glad to have you stoppin' by---John

When two or more minds are concentrating on the same subject, a 3rd, more powerful mind is created. Welcome to HOSR.

Hi John,

Hi John,

Thanks for the welcome!

As for the magnet classes, I've started to run the Wizzard Storm chassis, but I have at least one chassis from each of the big three.  Until just recently, I have been mixing them up, but I decided to stick with one chassis for the time being so that I can learn  more about it and hopefully become a better racer for it.  That being said, I think any of the big three can be just as competitive given the right tuning and driver.  I need work in both aspects, lol.

I'll work on getting some pics of my tracks up soon.  They're pretty plane Jane, but they get the job done :)

Welcome!

Hey, you found me here in my hang-out.  Welcome aboard!

While you are checking out this site, you might also want to check two sister sites.  One is HOWorld.net.  Lots of classic articles.  The other is HOSlotCarCommunity.com.  This is the archive of the old HOSlotRacer.com site.  Lots of great articles, forum topics and reference "books".  Most comments & photos have disappeared, but the main article text is still there!

I hope to catch-up with you guys at RaceWear, or one of the other CRL hang-outs.

Thanks for joining us!

Joe
