The Tyco Album
Submitted by OhioSlotCars on Sun, 12/07/2008 - 14:20.This Tyco HP-2,or Curvehugger chassis, is one of only two cars that were sold as display, or racing cars.CATCH ME (shown) and sister car GOTCHA,BOTH had body"prop rods", to display the interior chrome plated interiors, with driver and rollcage. The Prop Rod folds up underneath, before latching down body to use for racing. You will come across this body, but usually NEVER with ,both rear hinges( right angled L) still intact. Usually a person tries to seperate the body from the interior on these, and that's a NO-NO. These bodies are made to stay attached to the interior..Thus, breaking the rear hinges ,trying to get it off. This model also came with a Tyco Pro 2 chassis.99% of the time when you find this car, the prop rods are broken, and the hinges are too.The rear bumper is what holds the hinge in-place. If you remove that first, you COULD seperate them, without breaking. Therefore you might find this body missing it's rear bumper too.Out of 8 of these, THIS IS THE ONLY PERFECT one I have.I have tried to replicate the rear hinge with Krazy Glue, and plastic, or even cut down paper clips, but the area where it makes its 90 degree turn into the rear of the body is too small for any errors.Even grinding out the area, to make it larger to accept a larger glued on piece to the back of the drivers rollcage has been un-eventful.I still have about 4 of these bodies, and interiors, with 1 of the 2 hinges broken off, making a sloppy hinge, that falls off time to time. TYCO PRO cars
Submitted by OhioSlotCars on Tue, 12/09/2008 - 09:04.Hey Tony, Glad you liked them, but there are many more to come. I have some of the earliest Tyco Pro's in my collection, and I'll be posting them.I just brought out the VW's, and a group from the early 70's including the Chaparral 2J aka The Vacuum Cleaner car.Plus I took a shot of the bottoms to show others the difference between the Tyco Pro, and Tyco Pro 2, that the guide shoe went from the bendable wipers(pickups) to the spring-loaded buttons, which made a BIG! difference in how the car responded on the track...Dennis
