OK, so we all have that "white car" that's not so white anymore. This, I believe, is the effect of UV rays on the plastic. Well, believe it or not, this can be fixed!
- Pour fresh Hydrogen Peroxide into a plastic or glass container. It is preferable the container is clear.
- Remove the body and prep. It is advised to remove any chrome parts. The process does not appear to harm paint, but believed to damage stickers, decals, and possibly chrome.
- Submerge the body in the Hydrogen Peroxide.
- Place the container in a window where it will get light from the sun.
- Check progress daily.
This is the first I'd heard of this and recently gave it a go with a Camaro body that was pretty yellowed. Results below:
Note: Direct sunlight is not required, but it does need UV light to work properly (which is ironic when you think about it!)
Also, this will work to restore colored plastic as well, but is clearly most noticable
on white plastic.

Bleaching a car
Submitted by SlotHeadFred on Thu, 12/24/2009 - 20:10.I have done this on several AFX and Aurora cars and it worked great. I've also heard to add a little Oxyclean for faster results but I have not tried that yet. I recently did a rescue van and it turned out snow white with no damage to paint but I did remove the chrome first. Most results were achieved in a day in the full sun, but here in Florida the sun is stronger. I usually take a half full water bottle and use it to weight the car down to keep it submerged because as the bubbles form it will float the car.
