Hi Gang,
Sorry for the delay. Due to the holidays and a sinus infection that just won't die, I have not been posting lately.
I attended the Parsippany Slot Car show at the Parsippany NJ PAL building on Nov 23 2008. I was set up as a vendor, so I got in early. As I drove from Albany NY, so I left the house 1t 5:30 AM to get there by 8am!! Check in was a breeze, and I quicly set up my table. Seeing that orignal Aurora Grand National Champion racer Henry Harnish and his ECHORR gang were setting up a Blue Max Trak for VHORS SS/ FRAY cars racing, I got out the camera and took a few photos. Bud's HO set up a 1/32 Ninco track at the other end of the room, and there was slot car racing all day! Unfortunately, things got very busy after that, and I did not get a chance to take any more photos.
The talk amongst the dealers was that we did not know what to expect. Would the weak economy/stockmarket, etc affect attendance or sales? As it turned out, we did OK. Attendance appeared about the same as the May 2008 show, and I saw a number of cars and parts change hands. Buyers were particular about what they purchased, but IMHO, the slot car marked is holding its own. My decals sold OK as well, but I mostly saw the show as advertising anyway. The only major change I saw was that the show was missing a few of the midwest dealers.
Cars were in abundance: T-jets, AFX, Tyco, racing parts, 1/32, even vintage 1/24 stuff was available. I myself picked up ALL of the original T-jet Cheetahs except the Tuff ones giveaway body. Not bad. I also met a number of people that I have been corresponding with online for years!!
The show officially ended at 2pm, but as dealers were only required to stay until 1pm, that pretty much ended things.
I ejnjoyed the show. It is great to be able to get together with others who enjoy the hobby, and talk about slot cars, never mind the wide variety of cars and parts that were available for purchase.

Sounds like..
Submitted by Admin on Fri, 12/05/2008 - 01:09.The show sounds a lot like the Aberdeen, and probably many of the same vendors too! I know since many are coming from OH, PA, NY, etc, they are interested in getting on the road and back home, so Aberdeen has a tendancy to bust up right on time or earlier. I did also notice at this most recent show folks were not spending with reckless abandon like previous shows. Still lots of trading, just not...crazy.
