The Porsche 917 is back in production
Submitted by plymouth71 on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 12:20
I have just completed the first prototype, well almost. Still waiting for my decals to arrive from the states, tempted to do my own as I already have for the rest of the car. It's sitting on an AFX SRT Chassis. what do you think?

Orders may be placed. If you have to ask... you can't afford it LoL

Too Cool for School
Submitted by mgbbrown on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 18:17.Nice Danno! The diorama is INCREADABLE! It appears that the orange banding around the lower apron and stripe is hand painted or is it the lighting? Will the details be airbrushed in production? If so-make mine the Steve McQueen car number 20. God Bless! Tony

Nope Tony

The pic is not the greatest, so the black and orange seem to "fuzz" together, I'll try to get a better pic.
You Betcha!
Submitted by mgbbrown on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 18:36.You Betcha! Make mine like THE MAN drove it. I was not being critical-just asking as it was a prototype and as talented as you indeed are you can hand paint as good as I can airbrush! Please check out the photos from the Forum post that Serge wrote on the magnet downforce meter-the enclosed link has a VERY NICE custom red Porsche 917 pictured on the scale. God Bless! Tony

In Case You Missed It
Submitted by mgbbrown on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 21:42.Dan; Here is a photo of the David Piper Porsche 917 that I was speaking of that was featured in Serge's Forum Post. The engine detail is nice! I like the body details not highlighted in black- I believe it is a bit better-perhaps a cleaner interpretation in my opinion. God Bless! Tony

Yes, very nice

I've got the body I recieved in the lot the other day sitting in the paint stripper. I'm thinking of adjusting the way I "highlight" the body panels and openings. if you look at the way I had it on my original design, it was a little more subtle.
not a lot mind you... but as I said I have another idea...

Not sure..
Submitted by plymouth71 on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 18:19.Up til now, I've been in the process of trading with interested parties. I unfortunately do not have sufficient bodies & chassis's yet for any mass production, hence the prototype status. I'm actually trying to decide what they are worth as It's basically the time to do it plus the initial purchase. Masking, painting, detailing including decals then packaging and shipping. I may offer them up once the initial 3 cars are supplied to the pre-ordering folk, and give a firm price from there on. I want to be fair, it will be a limited run as I use AFX bodies. To include Chassis's would boost the cost significantly as I'd have to buy them, and as shown the chassis would probably cost me $13.00 each plus shipping for it just to reach me, and then my costs for the body, paint decals etc plus shipping to a customer. It's custom work right? what's your time worth to you? Of course it still has to be reasonable too or else no one will be interested...
